Monday Meet-Up with TTT

Two posts in one day? Am I crazy? Am I trying to make up for lost time?

No, I am just tricky. I wrote the last post on Sunday, but scheduled it for today. I am sneaky like that, I tell you.

Anyway, I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune for their fun weekly linky party. Today, I am going to tell you 3 random, fun facts about myself.

That's it.

I am super exciting and fun, I tell you. And, if you're wondering what my favorite drink at Sonic is... It's a tie between a Cherry Limeade and an Ocean Water with Lemon. I used to drink a lot of Vanilla Root Beer when I worked there, but I don't drink dark soda anymore.

And no, I don't think I can skate anymore. I think I would fall right flat on my face if you asked me to skate right now. That was nearly five years ago, people. These knees of mine couldn't handle it.

Also, I'm crazy about spelling and apparently I always have been since the first grade or something.

Six Months 'Til Christmas Sale!

Where have I been?

I've been pretty absent from the blogging/TPT world lately. Summer officially officially started for me last Thursday. My last day teaching summer school ended at 12:15 that day and I've been loving every minute since. I feel like I haven't had the opportunity to relax and recover from the school year since I was teaching summer school.

So, I've made up for some lost time this weekend.

Friday night, I went with my mom to see my sister cheer at her cheer camp about an hour away. My mom and I stopped at Burger King on the way home. We love the good ol' BK. I haven't had BK since I became gluten free a few weeks ago.

Oh yea, I haven't mentioned with you... I'm GF now. It's a new experience, but one that makes me feel like a human again. Anyway, at BK I ordered a Whopper with no bun. It came up on the receipt as Whopper Low Carb. I don't know why, but that's funny. Here's how it was handed to me:

Again, I don't know why this cracked me up so much. It's the little things.

Saturday, my DB and I headed to the KC zoo.

Here, we are up high on those things that take you around the zoo in the sky. I'm not fancy. I don't know what they are called. I've never been up in one. We could see all the animals in Africa from up there. We were just flyin' high over the giraffes, zebra, ostriches, etc.

Our zoo recently got penguins! I consider this the absolute greatest thing ever. Penguins are my absolute favorite animal of all time. How could you not love a penguin? Anyway, I took a gazillion pictures of them, but I decided to share some penguin bellies with you.

Who doesn't love a penguin belly?

Today, I went to my best friend's baby shower.

Her mom and sister did the whole thing and they did a beautiful job. The theme was centered around baseball. It was very original and creative. Here's just a snippet to show how cute it was:

So, I've been busy. But the great thing about being busy lately is that I have the energy to actually be busy and I love it. I've been really dragging lately, but I feel like a new woman now that school is over. It's pretty great what a break can do for you.

I am here to announce a very fun sale that I am participating in. Did you know that Christmas is 6 months away? I'm sure you technically did know if you were looking at a calendar or thinking about Christmas at all. If you're like me, then Christmas is the farthest thing in your mind.

Well, anyway, there's a fun sale that many teachers are linked up for.

Exciting, right?

My entire TPT Store is 20% on June 24th-25th. You can find other stores on sale at The Learning Highway. While there, you can find a fun giveaway where many teachers have entered their Christmas items for a giveaway. Unfortunately, I don't exactly have any Christmas items in my store... I found this odd considering I absolutely love Christmas, but whatever. Maybe I was busy or something.

Anyway, I hope you can take full advantage of this sale and maybe it will help you even start thinking of next school year. I know I've already been thinking about it because you know, I'm crazy a planner.

Throwback Thursday!

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday to you all! It's technically like my Friday today. Summer school was just Monday through Thursday this week. It's also just Monday through Thursday next week and then you know what? I'm officially finished for the summer and get to enjoy the summer by sleeping past 5:30 thankfully.

I'm pretty bummed though because the kids have passed some germs to me and I have a rather disgusting summer cold and I am not happy about it. My nose is full. My throat hurts. I can't stop coughing. My voice sounds ugly. Not a happy camper over here.

Anyway, enough complaining about my crummy health because really... I could fill a book with how many times I've been sick this year. It's really quite annoying.

I'm linking up with The Teaching Tribune for their Throwback Thursday today. You all get to see what a precious little babe I was in first grade.

I could resist that last one. I look so pleased. And, talk about some outfits! Yikes!

I'll never forget my first day of first grade. It was my first day in a new school too. In my hometown, there used to be a kindergarten building and so all the little kinders went to the same place. Then, we were separated to our respective elementary schools. The only thing I truly remember from my first day of first grade was that my real actual teacher was not there. We had a long term sub because my teacher had a baby. I didn't really understand it all at the time and eventually, my teacher came in with her newborn baby to introduce herself and show us her baby. I loved both teachers I had that year. My actual first grade teacher was tall, young, and loved how every CHIEFS Friday I wore a Chiefs shirt and my Chiefs sunglasses. I thought I was cool. I probably was not, but a girl can dream.

I have no idea what I wanted to be in first grade when I grew up, but in second grade, I wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader who lived in Florida. I don't know why. I apparently was not that faithful to my KC Chiefs. My first grade teacher would've been disappointed. Sometime in high school I realized I wanted to be a teacher. I didn't go to school for that to begin with. I actually just went to community college to get my gen ed credits, but I really decided by my second semester there. I'm not sure why I ever second guessed myself on it! I think it's the greatest job ever!

Happy Hump Day, friends!

I am going to introduce something to you that I've been very excited about. Now, if you follow me on Facebook (and if you don't, WHY ON EARTH NOT?! Hehehe, I kid, I kid! Please do not stop reading. I promise I'm not mean...), then you've seen this little thing get some exposure already.

I've been really trying to think of some fun activities for my firsties to do as we begin to wrap up our school year. FYI, we are down to 7 days left. WHAT?! Where did this year go? This is when my emotions play in. I love my summer breaks, but I love my firsties too. I'm sure many teachers, if not every teacher, goes through this push and pull feeling.

Anyway, my kids are so ready for second grade. Academically, they are totally there. Mentally, they are ready. Emotionally, they want to stay in first. So, I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be absolutely great if they could just go into a second grade classroom and talk to the teacher and the students in there?" That would totally ease their minds into summer and then next year, if they have that teacher, they can say, "I've been in here! We met last year! Remember me? Remember me?"

So, I immediately emailed on my second grade teacher friends and she was all for it thankfully. Isn't it awesome when people jump on board with your wishes? Makes me so happy.

So, here it is, my friends.

When I posted this picture on Facebook, I had many people ask if I was going to make it for other grades. So, I did of course! I'm a people pleaser after all! I love to make people happy and smile, of course!

So, there is also a Kindergarten Version, 2nd Grade Version, and 3rd Grade Version. Just click on those links to take you to them!

Here is a sample page from the unit:
Just click the picture to download the Google Doc. Students write the question next to the number and then the interviewee's answer on the dotted line.

If you read my last blog post, this interview takes place during the countdown to summer (which you could download for FREE from that post!), so our actual interview with the second graders will happen early next week. However, we will be starting this pack tomorrow with the reader's theater and what-not to practice! I am sooooooo sooooooo excited!!! My kids are going to LOVE it!

Two For Tuesday! And A New Blog Design!

Hello everyone!

Did you notice anything different about my blog?! It's new and improved and BEAUTIFUL. Right? Courtney from Blogs Fit For A Queen designed it and I am in love, people. It's so pretty! Anyway, it's the second day of the linky party with The Teaching Tribune. Today is Two For Tuesday!

Monday Meet-Up

Thanks to The Teaching Tribune, I get to introduce to you one of my very good bloggy friends. When I started with blogging and TPTing and IGing and all the other social media sites, I was nervous that I would give up because I would be all alone and talking to no one out there. Thankfully, that wasn't true. I became friends with Amna from Teach Two Reach 2nd Grade on IG and from there, it's all history! She is such a kind, sweet, and helpful person and I am so glad she has helped me meet people through here, introduced me to different groups and linky parties, and has shared ideas with me so that I could use them in my classroom.

She is pretty awesomesauce. I like her lots and you will too. Let me introduce her!

She's pretty awesome, right? Click on the picture above and it will take you to her awesome blog. You can also click here to find her on TPT. I highly encourage you to do so!

Another wonderful friend I have found through this blogging adventure is Allison from 2nd Cup of Campers. You see, I wrote about Amna, Amna wrote about Allison, and Allison wrote about me! How fun is that? I feel so lucky and blessed to have both of these supportive friends in my life! I just hope that one day, I get to meet them both in real life! I imagine we would all get along really well and can only imagine the shenanigans we could get ourselves into!

Make sure to head to The Teaching Tribune for more Summer Bloggin' Fun!

June {Currently}

Happy June, people! It's a beautiful summer day here and I am happy, happy, happy!

It's the first so that means it is time to link up with Farley at Oh Boy! 4th Grade for her very fun linky party.

I think it is all pretty self-explanatory, but I'll go into detail anyway because I like to talk about myself.

Listening: The Dear Boyfriend is watching the new Star Trek. I'm not a Trekkie. Nor do I ever want to be. So, no... I am not watching. After I hit the publish button, I'm going to stalk catch up on my bloggy friends' blog posts. I'm also going to find all my IG bloggy friends on their blogs so I can finally follow all of them. I'm not a very good bloggy friend.

Loving: Summer. Duh. My actual school year is over, but I am currently teaching summer school. I'm co-teaching with a kindergarten teacher friend and together we have 40 kiddies in our classroom. It is crazy busy and loud and chaotic, but it's summmmmerrrrr!

Thinking: Does a teacher's brain ever turn off? No. At least, mine doesn't. Maybe I'm not normal; I don't know. I've already started making my Back To School Information Packet. I never use the same one. I always want to change it. New ideas come. Old ideas need to go. Blah blah blah. I just don't like waiting 'til the last minute to do important things.

Wanting: Vacations. Trips. Whatever. We have some float trips lined up, but I want a real trip. With a hotel and a hot tub and a massage and what-not. We probably won't get to take one, but I can hope and dream.

Needing: If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen the picture of all my new gluten free food. My doctor has advised me to try eliminating gluten for two weeks to see if I feel better. You see, my quality of life (health wise) is not the greatest... I feel blah all the time- foggy brain, lethargic, stomach aches, and other symptoms that I'm not going into detail about. So, gluten-free, here I come! At least for the next two weeks. We went to the store today and began buying all these different gluten free items, but my goodness, it is difficult stuff! It will definitely take some getting used to. And don't even get me started on how much it costs. I am just hoping that it helps and so I won't be the girl who "doesn't feel well" all the time.

Summer Bucket List: I just want to read. I'm still reading Wonder, which I plan to finish this evening or tomorrow. Next on my list is Allegiant from the Divergent trilogy.

I already touched on the healthy stuff, but we are also switching gyms. Our new one (the community center) has classes. Now, that I am excited for. I'd rather have someone whip my booty into shape rather than depend on myself to do so.

Ahh, and organize. I need to declutter.

Happy Summer, people! And, go link up with Farley for her June Currently!
