Wordless Wednesday!

Happy Hump Day!

Yes, I actually know what day of the week it is.

You want to know how?

I asked my boyfriend. I won't lie. Yesterday, I thought tomorrow (which is technically today now) would be Thursday. Yep, I talk in circles now because school starts way too soon for this chickie poo and it just makes me sad and makes me start talking like a crazy lady.

Anyway, I'm linking up with Miss DeCarbo for Wordless Wednesday. Woohoo!!

http://secondgradesugarandspice.blogspot.com/

So, I really have TWO photos for you, but really just one that's important. Also, it's called WORDLESS Wednesday for a reason, so I kind of just need to stop talking and show you the picture(s).

We went to the Royals game on Saturday. It was a beautiful, hot, humid, sticky night. Which means I was looking mighty attractive by the 2nd inning.

I ordered this beast after watching my boyfriend and his brother inhale it.

What is that, you ask? It's a hot dog. More specifically, it's the Royal BBQ hot dog. On top of the hot dog is pulled pork, pickles, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. Mine isn't on a bun because of the gluten. It was nothing short of amazing. Kansas City is known for BBQ and there's good reason for that. It's all amazing around here.

What is your favorite thing to order at baseball games?

BONUS QUESTION: Who do you cheer for?!

Back To School Prep

Are you ready for those three dirty little words back to school? It's hard to believe, but starting August 11th, I'm officially back on contract time. My firsties will join me the following Monday. The summer truly flew by.

So, I got to thinking... What are we going to do?

Well, first I need to figure out what I am going to do and that is stop sleeping until 8 or later and staying in my pajamas until way past the morning. Heh. So, I made myself a checklist of what I want to do the first week of school. Here's what I came up with:

It's all pretty much the obvious stuff, but after not being in school since mid-June, I just need to make sure that I know what I'm doing. My main goal for the first week of school is that my students and I have fun, connect, and communicate. I also want to make sure we have rules and procedures ready for the rest of the school year.

Enter...

What's included:

One activity my students and I will complete is this class pendant. Aren't they the cutest little photos? Each student will get a large photo template and will draw a self portrait. I will then tie them altogether and hang them in our classroom. My example is my family- me, Paul, and our pups. I may or may not have this hanging in our dining room.

Of course, here's a close-up of the babies.
This is my favorite project. It's a yearlong one and I'm pretty much obsessed with it. It's a little scrapbook for the kids to fill in after each holiday/event.

Holidays and events that are included are: Back To School, Halloween, I'm Thankful For..., What I Want For Christmas, 3 Goals For The New Year, Our Valentine's Day Party, Spring Break, Field Day, and Why I Loved Kindergarten/1st Grade/2nd Grade.

Here's the cover:
And, inside!! Side note: pay no attention to how awful I drew that little girl in the picture.

Another project we will complete is a "My Snapshots" page. It comes with a little craftivity which includes the head and hands. I didn't have yarn at home, but my firsties will probably make theirs with yarn for hair.

There's also a booklet for them to complete about their first week of school!

Isn't it great? I am pretty excited to get it all ready and have my firsties do it all!

Monday Made It

Hi everyone! I am linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for my favorite linky party, Monday Made It!

http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2014/07/monday-made-it-summer-week-9.html

I don't have a whole lot for you today, but I am pretty excited about what I have to show you. Here's a sneak peek to get you excited as you read on!

How To Make Your Library Pop

First up, I spent a lot of time last week making up some classroom library labels for my book bins. If you follow me on Instagram, then  you've seen some of these pictures.

Check out these awesome tips on how to bring color and uniqueness to your classroom library!

Make your classroom library pop with these bright colors! The labels are editable too!

Make your classroom library stand out with the bright colored library labels... Now editable!!
I made labels with a fancy frame and others with a rectangular frame, which are easier for cutting. They match perfectly with Dollar Tree bins! They are also chalkboard style :)
Check out this easy way to make your classroom library stand out with duct tape
I decided they needed some jazzing up though. On the left, the bin just contains the label. On the right, you can see I added some duct tape. Of course, it's cupcake duct tape to match my sweet shoppe in my classroom!

See, just add some duct tape to those bins! I love them so much more now!

If you are interested in either of the Chalkboard Classroom Library Labels, click the picture below to find them in my TPT store. I have them listed for $1 off today in honor of Monday Made It!

My second project was easy peasy! I originally went into Michaels to make these all from scratch. I was on the hunt for clothespins, chalkboard paint, and little wood palettes. That was a big fat fail. On my way out, I happened to look up and see some already made! What?! Yes, for real! They had six in a package for only 99 cents! It took everything in me to not buy every single package. Anyway, I decided some blue paint would jazz them up. I just need to add names and hot glue tacks on the back of the clothespins so that I can put them in the hallway. They will be the perfect way to display student work in the hallway!

That's all, folks! I'm off to stalk all the other blogs that participated today so that I can get more ideas!

Phew! It's A Monday, But I Made It!

Hi everyone!

Oh my, this Monday started off rough, but I still made it (see what I did there?!)! Sadie got spayed today. I'll admit it. I cried when I took her. I. Am. Pathetic. I just got off the phone with the vet though and she did great! I can't wait to get her tomorrow! To add on to that, Jasper has been sick so after dropping Sadie off, I went home and picked him up and went right back to the vet. He has some meds and has been snoozing like a baby, hopefully feeling better.

Anyway, there's a reason you're here! I'm linking up for my favorite linky party with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics. Check out what I made!

http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2014/07/monday-made-it-summer-week-8.html

I have table baskets. I'm sure a lot of you do. I bought my table baskets a few years ago at Target for only $2.50 each. I actually never needed to use them until this past school year. My tables had cubbies in each student's spot and so they just used that for their school supplies.

My table baskets barely made it this year. Crayon marks and pencil marks filled those baskets. I was already really unhappy with them because they were ugly primary colors and they didn't match my room whatsoever. So, after some spray paint, duct tape, and magic eraser, they are prettier than ever! Also, I made those tags to match my classroom theme. My classroom is a Sweet Shoppe so they match perfectly!

I have to say... Those Magic Erasers mean business. Without those, I never ever would've been able to get all the crayon marks off of these buckets. I would put stock in those Magic Erasers; that's how good they are. Do they do stock in Magic Erasers? They totally should. It's definitely the best product ever.

Here's what I did: Scrubbed each basket with my amazingly awesome Magic Eraser. Then, I spray painted each basket. I am disappointed with how my pink ones turned out. That spray paint is not nearly as good on plastic as Valspar is... At least in this experience. Then I wrapped my duct tape around each one and then put the tags on! I actually need to laminate the tags still, but I can't do that until I'm back at school. Then, I'll hot glue them to the baskets.

I hope you like them! Happy Monday to you!

Why Teacher Furbabies Love Summer Break Just As Much As Teachers

Before I get started, there is nothing education-related in this post. It's just for fun. If you don't like animals or pets, you probably won't like this post. I'm just sayin'. That's my disclaimer.

I love my dogs.

I mean, like I really, really do. I treat them like the little fur children that they are and I wouldn't have it any other way. Those of you with furbabies, or human babies, have you noticed with your time off how your babies enjoy this summer break just as much as you do? Or maybe even more? No, that's impossible. I enjoy my summer break. No one can enjoy my summer break more than I do.

Anyway, so this post is about my dogs and the reasons they love summer break so much. During the school year, my dogs are home alone for nearly ten hours. I know. That's such a long time and Paul and I do not like to do that. Thankfully, Jasper and Sadie are little angels and we don't have to lock them up during the day. I'm pretty sure they sleep on the couch literally the whole ten hours. So, I know they are loving my summer break as much as I do!

First, let me introduce my furbabies to you.

Adorable, right?

I'm sure that most of you are like me during the school year. I barely have time to dry my hair, let alone give my pups some extra love and affection. During the school year, morning belly rubs are skipped. During the summer, morning belly rubs are a must and last a very long time.

During the school year, my babes don't get a real walk in the morning. They go outside for a few minutes, but it's nothing like what they get in the summer. We do a morning walk and about fifty gazillion more during the day. They totally love it.

More bones. More treats. More food. Life is good. They get spoiled with a treat every time we come in from a walk. More walks means more treats. That's probably the real reason they love walks so much, but hey... This is my time to spoil them like crazy.

I can't go anywhere without them jumping on my lap. Even when I get my computer out, one of them is always on my lap. These are pictures are from when I sat outside on our patio, both of them jumped in my lap. It was awkward and uncomfortable, but I loved every minute of it. I loved it so much, I took some #selfies. Don't judge. My dogs love them some #selfies.

We like to party. We like, we like to party. When it's not a snuggle time or walk time, it's a play time. I don't really know if Jasper and Sadie play during the day. I don't have a Nanny Cam for my dogs. Would I? No, never! Wait, yes? I don't know. I want to know what they do when I'm not here! Does that make me crazy? Kind of.

If you can't tell from this post, I absolutely love our furbabies. Paul and I are totally smitten with them. I'm so glad that they get to enjoy my summer break as much as I do. I will totally miss all this time with them when school starts back up!
